About Us

The JNF works in various countries in Africa to educate and raise awareness in areas of agriculture, water, biodiversity, waste and energy.

The JNF Walter Sisulu Environmental Center, in Mamelodi, SA, educates approximately 10’000 learners each year through a schoold permaculture garden, demonstrating: food production for school feeding, medicial plants for primary health care, a forest ecosystem, wetland and a forest garden orchard and has won the Mail and Guardian’s “Greening the Future Award”.

The Agahozo Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda for young survivors of the 1994 massacre, includes training these youth to grow different fruit trees such as avocado, mango, passion fruit and plums, cultivating stands of trees for use as fuel for cooking or heating to reduce felling in forests and developing beehives for honey production.
